Dr. Pierre Côté is Senior Scientist, Rehabilitation Solutions, Musculoskeletal Health and Arthritis Program, Toronto Western Hospital. He graduated as a chiropractor from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 1989. In 1996 he obtained a Master's Degree in Surgery from the University of Saskatchewan where he studied neck and back pain in the general population. He completed his PhD in epidemiology at the University of Toronto in 2002. In 2003, he was awarded a 5-year New Investigator Award from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. His primary research interests include the causes and prevention of disability related to neck and low back pain. Dr. Côté is currently involved in several national and international projects such as the Arizona State University Healthy Back Study; a cohort study of occupational neck pain in Ontario WSIB claimants; the Center of Research Expertise in Improved Disability Outcome (CREIDO) and the 2000-2010 Bone and Joint Decade International Task Force on Neck Pain. Dr. Côté has published extensively in the biomedical literature including in the New England Journal of Medicine, Annals of Internal Medicine, Archives of Internal Medicine, Pain and Spine.
